■ shape

作为可数名词，本意是形状，外形。但是可以作为不可数名词用以指没有形状的、内部的状况，尤其是身体健康状况。in shape 就是“健康状况良好”（静态的），但 shape 前面还可以加上一些形容词，进一步说明“健康状况十分好”。

• The key is to get your brain in good shape.关键是要使脑子健全。
• For her age, she is in pretty good shape.她这样大的年纪，身体算是相当不错的了。
• He is in great shape for the tournament.他身体状况很好，可以参加比赛。

可以用 into shape 来表示动态的“身体状况变好”。

• I ought to do something about getting into shape for this walking tour.准备这次徒步旅行，我要设法把身体状况弄好。

In shape 的 shape 前面也可以加负面的形容词表示“健康状况不好”。

• The old man is in pretty bad shape.那位老大爷身体很差。

也可以说 out of shape 来表示“健康状况不好”。
