used as a comb. form of cellule, L. cellula (for the form cf. bulbo-) forming principally adjs. used in physiology, which in sense are practically compounds of cellular: e.g. cellulo-adipose, (tissue) partly cellular partly adipose; similarly cellulo-fibrous, cellulo-muscular, cellulo-tendinous, cellulo-vascular; cellulo-cutaneous, pertaining jointly to the skin and subcutaneous connective tissue; cellulo-membranous, pertaining to the ‘cellular membrane’; cellulo-serous, pertaining jointly to the ‘cellular’ and ‘serous’ membranes.
