现在，我们就在长城脚下。这一段长城修筑在八达岭上，高大坚固，是用巨大的条石和城砖筑成的。城墙顶上辅着的方砖，十分平整，像宽大的马路，城墙外有两米多高的垛子。垛子上有方形的嘹望台和射口，是屯兵使用的，每隔三百多米就有一个城台，打仗时，屯兵就可以互相呼应了。
