1. a. Sc. A small shrill cry, as of a plover or similar bird; any slight high-pitched sound (freq. in negative contexts: cf. peep n.1 2 b). Cf. wheeple n. s.v. wheeple v. b. A whistling bleep, similar to the cry of a plover, made by electronic equipment.
