A genus of East Indian oscine birds, the type of which is T. pileata, a small bird found from Nepāl to Cochin China and Java. Hence tiˈmelian a.; ‖ tiˈmeliidæ pl., a provisional family or group of passerine birds, which have been supposed to be related to Timelia; timeliine |taɪˈmiːlɪaɪn| a., allied, or assumed to be allied, to Timelia.
1896Newton Dict. Birds 963 The Troglodytidæ (Wren)..were referred to the *Timeliidæ, whereas if their union were necessary, the *Timelias should have been referred to the Wrens.
