2) a thing or two（不是 one or two things）是“某门知识的一点皮毛”。

3) 在否定句中，被否定的 a thing 可以相当于 nothing。

• I didn't know a thing about stroke before I had one.我没有中风之前，对中风毫无所知。
• They searched the area but didn't find a thing.他们搜查了整片地区，一无所获。
• We haven't a thing to do with the government.我们同政府毫不相干。
