For another thing, with the development of modern society, people are contacting with one another more frequently. Everyday we must deal with a lot of people known or unknown to us before. The more advanced a society, the more contacts with others we make.
The countries in the world are not closed systems now and the world people are no longer living in isolation. And they can reach one another whenever they want to. So we draw to the conclusion that as long as technology makes progress and people make contacts, the world will be getting smaller and smaller.
