[L. thapsia (tapsia), a. Gr. θαψία, said to mean a plant brought from Thapsus.]
A genus of umbelliferous perennials, of the tribe Laserpitieæ, containing four species, natives of the Mediterranean region. That formerly in medical repute is T. garganica, also called Deadly Carrot.
