telegraphone|tɪ-, tɛˈlɛgrəfəʊn| [Short for telegraphophone, f. tele- + graphophone, after telephone.] A form of telephone in which the spoken message is recorded at the receiving end magnetically on an iron ribbon, so as to be capable of reproduction; invented by Poulsen of Copenhagen about 1900. (See also telephonograph.)
