Steinheim|ˈʃtaɪnhaɪm| The name of a village twelve miles north of Stuttgart, West Germany, used absol. or attrib. in Steinheim skull to designate a Middle Pleistocene fossil hominid known from a skull found there in 1933 by Karl Sigrist and described as Homo steinheimensis by F. Berckhemer in 1936 (Forschungen & Fortschritte XII. 349/2).
