Stancarian Hist.|stæŋˈkɛərɪən| [f. Stancar-us (see below) + -ian.] One of those Protestants in the 16th c. who adopted the opinion of Stancarus (Francesco Stancari of Mantua, 1501–74) that the Atonement of Christ was wrought by His human nature only. Also attrib. or adj. (Cf. Osiandrian.)
