A colourless liquid triamine, H₂N(CH₂)₃NH(CH₂)₄NH₂, which is found very widely in living tissues, in company with spermine, and has a number of metabolic functions.

XXI. 97 This base has been given the name spermidine since it not only occurs in association with spermine but also has been found to be structurally related to the latter substance.1964A.
