[mod.L., f. Gr. σπανο-, comb. form of σπανός (usually σπάν-ιος) scarce, scanty + -αιµία (as in ἀναιµία anæmia), f. αἷµα blood. Cf. F. spanémie.]
A morbid condition of the blood characterized by a deficiency of red corpuscles; poorness of the blood.
