1. An outline of the shadow of an object filled in with black (see quot. 1801); a picture painted or produced in this style.
1801Fuseli Lect. Paint. i. 9 The first essays of the art were Skiagrams, simple outlines of a shade, similar to..Silhouettes; without any other addition of character or feature but what the profile of the object thus delineated, could afford. 1843Blackw. Mag. LIV. 694 To trace back the more perfect art through its stages—the ‘Polychrom’, the ‘Monochrom’, the ‘Monogram’, and ‘Skiagram’. 1848Wornum Lect. Paint. 351 note, Vases, or those with the black figures (skiagrams) on the stained reddish-yellow terra cotta, are the most ancient.
2. A skiagraph, radiograph.
