sesamoid, a. and n.|ˈsɛsəmɔɪd| [ad. L. sēsamoīdēs, a. Gr. σησαµοειδής, f. σήσαµον sesamum: see -oid.] A. adj. Shaped like a sesame-seed; applied in Anat. to certain small bones and cartilages formed in tendinous structures.
