The name of Søren P. L. Sørensen (1868–1939), Danish biochemist, used attrib. and in the possessive to denote a titration method employed in the estimation of amino-acids, consisting in treating the sample with formaldehyde, which combines with the amino groups, and then titrating the carboxylic acid groups against base.
Sørensen first described the method in 1907 (Compt.-Rend. des Travaux du Lab. de Carlsberg VII. 1).
