[The name of Charles F. Scott (1864–1944), U.S. electrical engineer, who devised the connection in 1894 (Electrician 6 Apr. 640).]
Scott connection: a way of connecting two single-phase transformers to convert a three-phase voltage to a two-phase one (or to two single-phase ones), or vice versa: on the three-phase side the mid-point of the main transformer is connected to one terminal of the second transformer; the remaining three terminals form the terminals for the three-phase supply; the two-phase supply is taken from the two pairs of terminals on the other side. So Scott-connected adj.
