1. trans. To weaken (some physical quality or agent); to diminish the strength or effect of.
1634T. Johnson Parey's Chirurg. xxi. x. (1678) 469 Such..Medicins as are fit to draw out and retund the venom. 1657Tomlinson Renou's Disp. 38 Watry humidity doth much retund..the strength. 1684tr.
