1. trans. and refl. To make (legally) capable again. (Cf. capacitate v. 2.) rare.

Wks. 1739 I. 166 There was another [amendment], which provided, that persons, recapacitating themselves by taking the oaths, should not come into the places out of which they were turned, if full. 1703Lond. 2. trans. Physiol. To restore potency to (a spermatozoon). Cf. capacitate v., capacitation.

Ibid. 161 The capacitated sperms can be decapacitated by treatment with seminal plasma..but can be recapacitated if they remain longer in the female tract. 1969New Scientist 31 July 234/1 Such sperm were said to have suffered decapacitation, and could regain fertilizing ability (be ‘recapacitated’) by spending a second period in the female tract.
