The name of Sir John Sholto Douglas (1844–1900), eighth Marquis of Queensberry, used attrib. in Queensberry rules, a code of rules drawn up in 1867 under his supervision to govern the sport of boxing in Great Britain; also, the name by which the present rules of boxing are known; also transf.
