The name of N. M. Przewalski (1839–1888), Russian explorer, used attrib., ellipt., and in the possessive to designate a wild horse, Equus przevalskii, collected by him in 1876 in Central Asia, its native land, and named after him by I. S. Poliakov in 1881 (Izvestiya Imper. Russ. Geogr. Obshchestva XVII. 1).
