1. An optical instrument through which objects appear multiplied; a multiplying-glass: spec. (see quot. 1842). Cf. polyoptron.
1704J. Harris Lex. Techn. I, Polyscopes, or Multiplying Glasses, are such as represent to the Eye one Object as many.1842Brande Dict. Sc., etc., Polyscope,..a lens plane on one side..of which the convex side is formed of several plane surfaces, or facettes, so that an object seen through it appears multiplied.
