a. A native or inhabitant of Poitou, an ancient province of west central France roughly corresponding to the modern départements of Vienne, Deux-Sèvres, and Vendée, or of its capital Poitiers, now capital of Vienne.
b. The French dialect of Poitou or Poitiers.
B. adj. Of, pertaining to, or characteristic of Poitou or Poitiers or the dialect spoken there.
