peste, v.|pɛst| [a. F. pester to utter the imprecation of peste de, f. peste pest, as an imprecation.] trans. To invoke a plague or mischief upon; intr. to give vent to angry imprecations; to exclaim pest! Now rare exc. as a curse or exclamation of annoyance (arch.).
