a. A native or inhabitant of the city or district of Pegu in southern Burma, the ancient capital of the Mon (Mon n.2 and a.) people.
b. The language of the people of Pegu.
B. adj. (Also Pegu, the place-name used attrib.) Of or pertaining to these people.
