A piedmont slope in arid and semi-arid regions comprising a pediment and a peripediment (or just one of these, if the other is not present). Cf. pediplain.

V. 11 The writer proposes the term pediplane as a general term for all degradational piedmont surfaces produced in arid climates which are either exposed or covered by a veneer of contemporary alluvium no thicker than that which can be moved during floods. Ibid. 13 In some localities the up⁓land rocks may be extremely resistant or the basin rocks may be extremely weak... In such regions the pediplane will truncate basin sediments almost exclusively and will consist largely of peripediment. 1948Bull. Geol. Soc. Amer.
