[ad. Gr. παραλληλεπίπεδον, f. παράλληλ-ος parallel + ἐπίπεδον plane surface, n. use of neut. of ἐπίπεδος plane, flat (f. ἐπί upon + πέδον ground). In late L. (Boethius) parallēlepipedus, F. parallélépipède (1570 in Hatz.-Darm.), often parallélipipède.]
