natalid, a. (n.) Zool.|ˈnætəlɪd| [f. mod.L. Natalus, generic name + -id3.] Of or pertaining to the family Natalidae of small long-legged insectivorous bats of North and Central America, characterized by large funnel-shaped ears and a nose tufted with hair but lacking a nose-leaf; natalid organ, an organ peculiar to natalids (see quot. 1959), of unknown function. Also as n., a bat of this family.
