Meganthropus|mɛˈgænθrəʊpəs| [mod.L. (G. von Koenigswald, 1942), f. Gr. µεγα- great + ἄνθρωπος man.] A large fossil hominid of the genus so called, esp. Meganthropus palæojavanicus, fragments of whose remains were first discovered by G. von Koenigswald in Java in 1941. Also attrib.
