mashgiach, n.|mæʃˈgiːax| Also mashgiah. Pl. mashgichim, mashgihim. [a. Heb. mašgīaḥ supervisor.] A person authorized to inspect or supervise premises where food is kept or prepared, in order to ensure compliance with Jewish dietary laws (Kashrut).
