a comb. form of lysis (sense 3), used to form various biological and biochemical terms, as lysoˈlecithin Biochem., any compound obtained from a lecithin by the hydrolytic removal of one of the two fatty acid groups.

Inasmuch as lecithins differ in the nature of their saturated fatty acids, it is probable that there exist several lysolecithins.1972Sci. Amer.
