An antibiotic, C18H34N2O6S, produced by cultures of the bacterium Streptomyces lincolnensis var. lincolnensis and given orally or by injection (usu. as the hydrate of the hydrochloride) to combat various Gram-positive bacteria, esp. staphylococci and streptococci.
