He maintained that lapiés is found chiefly on outcrops of naked rock. 1968R. W. Fairbridge Encycl. Geomorphol. 645/1 Well developed lapiés with pinnacles standing up to 5 meters high are common in emerged limestone reefs, particularly in the South Pacific. 1972Bauer & Zötl in Herak & Stringfield Karst vii. 236 At these altitudes [in Austria] lapies are dominant karst phenomena, covering wide areas.
