An Indo-Aryan language spoken in the western Punjab. Also attrib. or as adj.
1903Risley & Gait Rep. Census India 1901 i. 311 Lahndā is a language the existence of which has long been recognized, but under many names. In the last Census Report it was called Jatkī... I therefore think it best to give it the name which is indicated by the natives of the Punjab themselves, i.e. Lahndā or the Language of the West (Panjabi Lahndē-di Bōlī). 1907G. A.
