1. The name of a town in Ayrshire (now Strathclyde), used (freq. attrib.) to designate various articles made there, or practices characteristic of its inhabitants; spec. Kilmarnock bonnet, cowl, a cap resembling a tam-o'-shanter.

2. Kilmarnock willow, a pendulous form of the goat willow, Salix caprea forma pendula, first discovered by James Smith (c 1760–1840), a Scottish botanist, and subsequently distributed by Thomas Lang, a Kilmarnock nurseryman.
