[prob. f. the name of the Old Testament leader of the Israelites, in allusion to the branching shape of the tree, compared with that of Joshua brandishing a spear: see Josh. 8:18.]
In full Joshua palm, tree, or yucca. A small evergreen tree, Yucca brevifolia, bearing clustered white flowers and found in western, desert regions.
