1. The action of anointing; smearing with, or rubbing in of, oil or ointment.
1621Burton Anat. Mel. ii. v. iii. i. (1676) 248/2 Fomentations, irrigations, inunctions, odoraments, prescribed for the head. 1663Boyle Usef. Exp. Nat.
