1. trans. To thicken, condense.
1626Bacon Sylva §726 The Sugar doth inspissate the Spirits of the Wine, and maketh them not so easie to resolue into Vapour. 1657S. Purchas Pol. Flying-Ins. 141 Manna is first a liquid dew, and after inspissated by a vertue of the tree, or plant on which it falls. 1744Berkeley Siris §16 Pitch is tar inspissated. 1845Lindley Sch. Bot. x.
