hardpeer S. Afr.|ˈhɑːtpɪə(r)| Also hardepeer, and anglicized hard pear. [Afrikaans; f. Du. hard hard + peer pear.] A small tree of the Cape, Olinia cymosa, having hard wood; also applied to other trees (see quot. 1913).
