■ go on有两个含义： 1) 普通字面的含义： a) “继续往前走”。 - Don't turn here. Go on. It's the next corner.这里别拐弯。继续往前走。下个拐角才是。
b) “中途暂停后重新出发”。 - They went on without us.他们不等我们一起就自己继续上路了。
c) “（走路以外的事）继续进行”。 - Their affair has been going on for years.他们俩的事已经有好些年头了。
- The party went on into the small hours.联欢会一直进行到清晨。
d) “正在发生”。 - A lot of cheating goes on during the exams.考试中作弊的情况很多。
e) “把原先正在做的事继续做下去”。 - —I guess I should stop here. — No. Don't stop talking. I'm very interested. Go on. —我觉得我说到这里就应该为止了。—不。别停住。我很感兴趣呢。说下去。
- If you go on like this, you'll have no money left.你如果这样下去，就不会有钱剩下来。
（至于 go on 后面加上 -ing 或 to inf.，见 go on + -ing 与 go on to inf. 条。） 2) “瞧你说的（你说得不对）”、“哪里的话”。 - —Gee, that looks like a snake there in the path. —Go on! That isn't a snake. No snake is that big. —咦，路上像是有条蛇。—哪里！那不是蛇。蛇不会那么大。
