The name of a village in north-eastern New Mexico, U.S.A., applied attrib. to the remains of a prehistoric culture first found there, esp. to a type of projectile point (see quots.).

July 39/3 The fact that these arrowheads were found under the conditions they were, makes it possible to designate it as evidence of a definite cultural stage, for which the name ‘Folsom Culture’ has been suggested. 1931Proc.
