Compare earlier fast-tracked adj. and slightly later fast-track v.] The practice of placing a person, project, etc., on a fast development track; spec. (a) (in the construction industry) by beginning construction before a design is completed; (also) an instance of this; (b) Educ. by advancing a student through a course of education more rapidly than is usual, esp. because of exceptional ability.
