Eudist, n. (and a.) R.C. Ch.|ˈjuːdɪst|
[ad. F. Eudiste, f. the name of St. Jean Eudes (1601–80), French missioner: see -ist.]
a. A member of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary, a French secular clergy founded by Eudes in 1641, and now chiefly engaged in secondary education esp. in France and Canada.

I. 767/2 Eudes..left his order, and founded an independent congregation—the Eudists, or the Congregation of Jesus and Mary—for the education of priests and for missions among the clergy. 1911A. L.
