Any of three compounds in which one or more of the hydrogen atoms in ammonia is replaced by a group CH2CH2OH, which are viscous, high-boiling liquids usu. manufactured from oxirane (ethylene oxide) and ammonia with extensive industrial uses; spec. 2-aminoethanol, H2NCH2CH2OH; also, any other amino alcohol structurally related to ethyl alcohol.
