1) （某事）到期该办理。

• The rent is now due.房租现在该交了。
• The payment becomes/falls due on the 5th.付款期是五号。
• When is the next flight due?下一班飞机什么时候到？
• When is the baby due?孩子预产期是哪一天？
• You have three books due today.您有三本书今天到期了。

有时候该具体如何办，可以在后面加上 to inf. 或 for 介词词组加以说明。

• The book is due to be published Tuesday.该书定于星期二出版。
• She is due for promotion.该是提拔她的时候了。
• The movie is due out in Aug..片子定于八月份上映。

2) to be due to somebody 是“（某好处）照理应该给与（某人）”。

• That money is due to me and I have not had it.钱应该是给我的，我还没有拿到呢。
• Ten dollars is due to you.该给你十美元。
• The wages due to them should be paid as soon as possible.欠他们的工资应该尽快付给。

3) 可以将 2) 的结构反转过来，把间接宾语（“某人”）变为主语，把原来主语（“某种好处”）变为直接宾语，成为 to be due something 的格式，意义是“（某人）应该得到（某种好处）”。

• He is due a payment increase.该给他涨工资了。
• Do not forget to claim any additional pension you are due.你如果应该得到更多的养老金，就别忘记去领。
• He is due a pay increase.他该涨工资了。
• She is due some money from me.我还欠她一些钱。

这种句型的转换，类似两种被动句型（如 A book was given to him. 与 He was given a book.）的关系。原来 due 源出于拉丁文动词 debēre，本来是个动词过去分词，所以 2) 与 3) 中的 due 其实是被动语气的过去分词。
