■ do it 与 do so

两者都是用来代替前面提到过的一个行动。用法上的区别：do it 是有意识的行动；do so 则可以是无意识的行为。

• —A: When you chop off a chicken's head and it's already dead, it still kicks a few times.
• —B: Why does it do so?
• —A：你把一只鸡的头砍掉，它就已经死了，但它还踢几下脚。
• —B：它为什么这样？（鸡已经死了，不可能有有意识的行为，所以不用 do it而用 do so。）
• The old man fell on his way to church. I'm sorry to hear that he did so（或 did that）老人再去教堂的路上摔倒了。我听到他摔倒心里很难过。

但是在实际语言中，无意识的行动也有用 do it 的。

• Of course I am going to misspeak, and I've done it on numerous occasions, and I probably will do it in the future. (John McCain, Republican Senator, Interview on CBS, The Washington Post, April 7, 2007)当然，我会说错话的，我曾经多次说错话，今后大概也会说错话。
