diaglyph rare.|ˈdaɪəglɪf| [f. stem of Gr. διαγλύϕειν to carve through, carve in intaglio, f. δια- through + γλύϕειν to carve: in mod.F. diaglyphe (Hatz.-Darm.).] A sculpture or engraving in which the figures are sunk below the general surface; an intaglio. Hence diaˈglyphic a., pertaining to, or of the nature of, such sculpture. Evelyn's name for the art is after Gr. γλυϕική (sc. τέχνη).
