[a. F. cryptate (coined by B. Dietrich et al. 1969, in Tetrahedron Lett. 2892), f. Gr. κρυπτός hidden or L. crypta cave, crypt: see -ate1.]
An organometallic complex in which a hydrogen or metal cation is trapped inside a cryptand.
