Concentrative quality; esp. the faculty of concentrating the attention and other mental powers. (App. introduced as a Phrenological term.)
1824G. Combe Elem. Phrenol. 28 Spurzheim termed it the organ of Inhabitiveness. It now seems probable that its function is to maintain two or more powers in simultaneous and combined activity, so that they may be directed towards one object; and it is in consequence named Concentrativeness.1852Hawthorne Blithedale Rom. xv, His tremendous concentrativeness and indomitable will.1882J.
