chelidonic, a. Chem.|kɛlɪˈdɒnɪk| [f. L. chelīdonium, a. Gr. χελῑδόνιον the plant celandine or Swallow-wort + -ic.] In chelidonic acid, C7H4O6, obtained from the juice of the Greater Celandine. Its salts are cheˈlidonates, which are very numerous. cheˈlidonine, an alkaloid contained in all parts of the same plant. chelidoˈninic, epithet of another acid obtained from Celandine. chelidoˈnanthin, a yellow very bitter substance contained in the juice of Celandine.
